Learn Typing for Kids

Typing is an important skill to use a computer faster and more efficiently. Kids will learn:

• 10-finger typing technique
• Typing words and sentences
• Tips to type faster and correctly
• Fun practice using text and simple games

1. 10-Finger Typing Technique

Each finger has its own position on the keyboard. Basic practice: place your fingers on the home row (ASDF JKL;) and type the letters shown on the screen.

Finger positions on the home row:

• Left hand:
  • Pinky → A
  • Ring finger → S
  • Middle finger → D
  • Index finger → F
  • Thumb → Spacebar
• Right hand:
  • Index finger → J
  • Middle finger → K
  • Ring finger → L
  • Pinky → ;
  • Thumb → Spacebar

Start typing using the correct fingers. Regular practice will help kids type faster and more comfortably.

2. Typing Words and Sentences

Try typing the following sentences in Word, Excel, or Notepad:

• Do not look at the keyboard, focus on the screen
• Practice regularly for 5–10 minutes every day
• Use all fingers, not just two
