Learn Computer Desktop for Kids

Hello kids! Today we will learn about the Desktop on a computer. The desktop is the first screen you see when the computer turns on. From the desktop, we can open programs and files.

What Is a Desktop?

The desktop has several important parts:

• Icons – pictures that represent programs or files.
• Taskbar – the bar at the bottom of the screen.
• Start Menu – used to open apps, settings, and shut down the computer.
• Background / Wallpaper – the picture behind the desktop.

Desktop Icons

Double-click an icon to open a program or file. Examples: WordPad, Folder, Browser.

Start Menu

The Start Menu is used to open programs, settings, and turn off the computer. Click the Start button in the bottom-left corner.

Taskbar

The taskbar is at the bottom of the screen. It shows running programs and helps us open favorite apps quickly.
